"O" gauge is the most light hearted and joyful of all the various forms of model railroading. Enthusiasts make a virtue of reliving the simpler days of childhood, staying in touch with that wide eyed wonder that kids have, when everything is new and exciting and fun. "O" gauge is often simply referred to as referred to as "Lionel," after Joshua Lionel Cohen, who founded the most famous of toy train companies in 1901, but there are several other manufacturers as well. It also sometimes gets called "Tin Plate" after an early type of train made in this gauge. Call it what you will, these layouts bring more happiness per square foot than any other type of railroad enthusiasm.
Please note that this layout is being refurbished at this time. Trains are still being run on most weekends.
