Garden Railroad Improvements - 2014
Help restore the original ground layout

Help the largest outdoor garden railroad open
to the public in Texas become even better

SAGRES - the "San Antonio Garden Railroad Engineers Society" has had a fantastic year in 2013. The child friendly "Thomas the Tank Engine" layout is looking great. The elevated layout is running really well. The club, an autonomous division of the Texas Transportation Museum, has received numerous donations of "G" scale locomotives and rolling stock.

The remaining task, set for 2014, is to completely re-install the original ground layout. These were built in 1990, well over twenty years ago. The tracks have had to withstand the rigors of Texas weather all year round. They need to be completely taken up and the concrete below re-surfaced to make it level and smooth again.

The project will cost almost $5,000.00. The club has raised almost 50% of this by participating in train shows and selling off surplus "G" scale trains and material plus other items donated by SAGRES members. Your donation will help them get this project completed so all TTM visitors can enjoy an even better garden railroad experience. All donations, made using the link below, by mail or in person before the end of the year, will be put towards the garden railroad. Any funds remaining after the project is finished will be used for other SAGRES purposes, such as granite for the paths, or paying for professional landscape work.

What's in it for you? No donation is too small, of course, but all donations of $100 or more will recieve a complimentary annual pass, good for unlimited visits to the museum, including all of our special events, including the annual "San Antonio Train Show." All donors will receive an invite to a ribbon cutting ceremony when the project is completed. Plus, of course, every time you and your family visit the garden railroad you will be treated to seven trains running on all the layouts at one time.
