"O" Gauge Lionel Railroad

Please note that this layout is being refurbished at this time.
Trains are still being run on most weekends.

"O" gauge is the most light hearted and joyful of all the various forms of model railroading. Enthusiasts make a virtue of reliving the simpler days of childhood, staying in touch with that wide eyed wonder that kids have, when everything is new and exciting and fun. "O" gauge is often simply referred to as referred to as "Lionel," after Joshua Lionel Cohen, who founded the most famous of toy train companies in 1901, but there are several other manufacturers as well. It also sometimes gets called "Tin Plate" after an early type of train made in this gauge. Call it what you will, these layouts bring more happiness per square foot than any other type of railroad enthusiasm.
Model Railroad Celebration Day

Saturday March 25, 2017
Time: 10 AM - 4 PM

TTM's first ever "MODEL TRAIN CELEBRATION DAY !"  will happen on Saturday March 25, rain or shine!  This is a new concept.  Unlike train shows of yore which were all about selling, this day is about folks actually running trains and having fun.  All our layouts will be running. We will have extra basic layouts set for you to run YOUR model rains on. If you have a train set - G or O gauge, HO or N - that you haven't run in a while, bring it out and see if it still works. If you want to try to sell it or other model railroad related items, we will have tables for you to display them, like a swap meet.  There will also be local vendors of railroad enthusiast items as well. Just a great day for the model railroad fan in your family.  Come out and enjoy the world's greatest hobby.

Dave Botts was an active model railroader at TTM in the 1990s. Now, in August 2013, with his sons in college, his hobbies have moved on to actually traveling in real trains all around the world. To cut down on storage expenses he very generously decided to donate loads of "O" gauge (plus "G," "HO" and "N" scale) trains and other layout pieces to the museum.
When you come out and visit the museum, you and every member of your family, young and old, will enjoy the sights and sounds of these trains. The display is a work in progress. Anyone in the hobby will tell you, no model train layout is ever truly finished!
